Memorial Day Softball Club & Veterans Club Homeless Vets Fundraiser Picnic & Softball Event
This years charity was US VETS in downtown Phoenix. They operate a 'half way' house for homeless vets who want to get off the street and back on their feet: shelter, education, health care, and job training/placement leading up to living on their own again in an apartment/condo.
US Vets is a National NON PROFIT, and donations are tax deductible. If you are an AZ resident, donations to US Vets qualify for a dollar for dollar personal income tax credit on your Az 2022 State Income Taxes, up to $400 per person or $800 per couple.
Message from the SCF Softball Board:
WOW… what a great turnout for the Memorial Day joint fundraising event held by the softball club and veteran’s club. We had well in excess of 500 people who showed up to the event, which included 2 softball games, multiple skill events, kids events, a band, the veteran’s color guard, AND Desert Harmony to sing the National Anthem!
There were also 3 food trucks, free watermelon, ice cream and popcorn, in addition to water for everyone!
Thank you to Jim Monachino, Gail Jasmer-Wilson, and Bill Long for putting this great event together. It could not have happened without your help!
Thank you also to ALL the volunteers who helped out today. Thank you to the band that donated their time and tips to give to charity and also to Marty the photographer who donated his time as well. Thanks to ALL the Veteran’s who volunteered, from the players to the color guard. Desert Harmony did an OUTSTANDING job of singing the National Anthem- THANK YOU! FINALLY, THANK YOU to everyone who came down to the ballpark today! The whole community came together for a great cause and had a lot of fun.
The money raised during today’s event went to the homeless vets here in the Phoenix area (US Vets, Phoenix). The softball club and veteran’s club are proud to announce that, thanks to your hard work and generosity, we raised over $6,200 that will be donated next week.
