The Sun City Festival Softball Club is a chartered club in the Pulte/Del Webb Community of Sun City Festival in Buckeye, Arizona. Our Club was chartered in December 2007. On April 26, 2008, we celebrated the opening of our softball field at Sun City Festival, Del Webb Memorial Field.
We play senior softball year round at Sun City Festival. From November through March, we have the opportunity to play in different leagues. One league, the Sun City Festival Community League (SCFCL) consists of teams of players from within our community only. We play double headers each week during the season at our Del Webb Memorial Field. The softball teams are balanced with players of different skill levels.
Another league, is the West Valley Senior Softball League (WVSSL) and consists of teams from Sun City Festival and teams from other West Valley senior communities such as Sun City Grand, Sun City West, Traditions, Trilogy and Vistancia. The WVSSL league has three ability tiers and the level of competition varies from one tier to the other. Games are played on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays of each week during the Fall/Winter season at our Del Webb Memorial Field.
From May thru September, we play summer softball, with games beginning early in the morning. Games are played against teams from Sun City Grand, Sun City West, Trilogy, Traditions and Vistancia.
In addition to the games fro the SCFCL and WVSSL leagues, the Softball Club sponsors our annual Softball Tournament in January for senior community teams from the West Valley area. It is a two week event with teams of different tier levels, and with playoff and championship games at the end of each week.
The softball field is closed during the month of October for grass reseeding and infield maintenance.
Our members share umpiring, field maintenance and scorekeeping duties for all the games. In addition, we have Committees set up to support each of the functions of the Club, to include Safety, Membership and Player personnel. As a Club member, you not only have the opportunity to play senior softball, but also help your fellow club members by volunteering on various softball Committees and/or be a member of the Board of Directors.
